Renewed Materials was launched in 2005 by Demir Hamami, with the objective to provide sophisticated recycled surfaces, with a focus on social and environmental responsibility, to the sustainable design community.  To this day, Renewed Materials remains committed to designing, developing and bringing to market sustainable recycled materials produced directly from salvaged waste. Renewed Materials aims to reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment by reducing from landfills, preventing air and water pollutants, and helping to reduce the ever-increasing depletion of the world’s natural resources.

With a background in architectural, material, product and furniture design, Hamami has honed his vision over the past ten years, producing surfacing solutions that are not only beautiful, but environmentally conscious as well. Renewed Materials launched ALKEMI’s polyester line in 2005, followed by ALKEMI-acrylic in 2011. Crafted of recycled aluminum scraps, with a SCS-certified recycled material content of 84% - 97%, ALKEMI currently boosts the highest recycled content of any surfacing material available in the world.  Renewed Materials expanded their product offerings in 2015 introducing ALKEMI-copper, an elegant, recycled surface with metallic shavings woven throughout.  LEED certified, satisfying credits 4.1 and 4.2, ALKEMI continues to be a favorite within the sustainable design community. ALKEMI recycled surfaces and tables, a new product line introduced in 2016, have been used by companies such as: Whole Foods, Disney, Google, Go Daddy, Nike, Motorola and more.

Renewed Materials remains deeply committed to giving back, donating a portion of all earning towards humanitarian efforts throughout the underdeveloped communities of the world. Renewed Materials is proud to support Kiva, an international non-profit program with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty, and The Starfish Programme, an educational scholarship program based in Uganda. In 2016, Renewed Materials looks forward to continuing their commitment to bring to market the most innovative and environmentally beneficial sustainable solutions possible. Renewed Materials is based in Bethesda, Maryland.
